In Jesus Name

What a debate! It happened at Hutchins Street Square. So many voices and opinions.
It was all hot and tense over the City Council allowing prayer in Jesus name.
Approximately 500-600 people showed up and almost 50 people claimed the microphone to express their views on this most important controversy. Now when 50 people each one is allowed 4 minutes to promote their views you can imagine how long the meeting lasted.
All kinds of people and opinions came out into the open. There were plenty of atheists from places other than Lodi ( a few were lodians) also agnostics, lots of unbelievers, Jews, Buddhists, other religions and those who wanted silent prayers, no prayers, nonsectarian prayers and Christian prayers.
I believe the majority who came showed up in force and wanted "uncensored prayers"
The council after41/2 hours selected uncensored prayer as the will of the people and best way to honor freedom of speech and religion in Lodi. Congrats to the council!!!
I was greatly moved by some testimonies of what speakers said Jesus had done for them in their lives and "why would anybody want to speak against Jesus who loves them and wants the best for them".
I was chagrined by some "Christians" who embarassed the faith we love so much and weakened the witness to the world.
I listened to atheists offended by the name of Jesus. I heard agnostics who didn't know Jesus and thought that others shouldn't know Him either.
But the most moving was the man who simply quoted Phil. 2:9-11
"Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him a name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
That was the bombshell of the night for me!
No matter who--- atheists or agnostics or Jesus haters--- everyone will someday say JESUS IS LORD.
Now that is the debate winner. Jesus is the winner. He is LORD.
When you pray in Jesus name you also become a winner.
